Sizing Guide

How to Measure Your Ring Size

Choose one of the five methods below to measure your ring size at home in minutes.

Measure at the base of the finger where the ring will sit, making sure it can pass comfortably over the knuckle. For the most accurate fit, measure at the end of the day when your hands are warm and relaxed.

1. Using a Piece of Paper or String

Cut a thin strip of paper or a piece of string about 15 cm long and roughly 1 cm wide.

Wrap it around the base of the finger you want to size. It should feel snug but comfortable, tight enough not to slip over the knuckle, loose enough to remove easily. Mark where it overlaps.

Unwrap and measure the length from one end to your mark in millimetres. This is the circumference of your ring. Compare it to a UK ring size chart to find your size.

To find the diameter, divide the circumference by 3.1415 (π). If your measurement falls between two sizes, choose the larger one.

2. Using a Circular Ring Sizing Chart

Print a circular ring sizing chart at 100% scale (make sure auto-scaling is turned off).

Select a ring that fits the same finger you’re measuring. Place it over the printed circles until one matches the inner edge of your ring.

If you’re between two sizes, select the larger. Use the sizing chart provided by the retailer when possible for the most accurate match.

3. Using a Ring Sizer

You can use a printable, plastic, or metal ring sizer.

Printable: Print the tool at 100% scale, cut it out, and thread the pointed end through the slit. Wrap it around your finger and pull gently until it fits comfortably. Read the letter shown by the arrow — that’s your ring size.

Plastic: Thread the pointed end into the loop, pull until snug, and read the letter indicated.

Metal: Use a set of metal ring sizers and try each one until you find the best fit (firm but comfortable).

You can also measure a ring you already own using a ring mandrel. Slide the ring down and note the letter where it rests.

4. Visiting a Local Jeweller

For the most accurate result, visit a local jeweller. They can measure your ring size precisely using professional tools such as a ring gauge or ring mandrel.

You’ll try on sample rings until you find one that fits comfortably (snug over the knuckle, secure but not tight). The jeweller can then advise if you should size slightly up or down depending on the band width or ring design, as wider rings often feel tighter.

This is also the best option if you’re between sizes, have varying finger sizes on each hand, or want to confirm a measurement taken at home. A jeweller’s guidance ensures your fit is exact before ordering a made-to-measure ring.

5. Secretly Finding Someone Else’s Ring Size

If you’re buying for someone else, start with a ring they already wear. Measure it using a circular sizing chart, ring mandrel, or ask a jeweller to confirm the size.

You can also ask their friends or family, they may already know or help you find out.

If thats not possible, choose a slightly larger size and have it resized later. As a guide, the average UK ring size for women is J to N, and for men is T to V.
